How accurate is a bubble level?
The best spirit level is accurate to within plus or minus 0.5 millimeters/meter, or 0.005 inches/inch or . 029 degrees. The next level of accuracy displayed is 0.75mm/m or. 043 degrees.
Simply set it on a flat surface and note where the bubble ends up. Then, flip the level end over end. If the tool is accurate, the bubble should fall in exactly the same place. Levels with replaceable vials can be adjusted.
The bubble in the center of every vial (if there is more than one) should be centered between the two level indication line marks. If the bubble is centered, the surface you are checking is level. If the bubble is off center, then your surface will be rising up to the side that the bubble is higher on.
An ultrasonic water level sensor reading a full-scale range of 144 inches will have an accuracy of ±0.36 inches (at ambient temperature). The same sensor reading a distance of 75 inches will have an accuracy of ±0.18 inches.

Kinks and knots can throw off the level and result in an incorrect reading. Slide your hand over the entire length of the tube before you use it so you can be sure there are no kinks or knots. A tube that is old or worn may be more prone to knots and kinks so you may want to replace it over time.
